From December 4 to 8 of this year, employees of the scientific library Tota Alimbekerova and Gulmira Janbayeva took part in a seminar-training on the topic “Modern university library: management, resources, technologies and service facilities”, organized jointly by the Association of University Libraries of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Nazarbayev University Library.

At the training seminar, topics were studied, such as: library management, supporting the scientific activities of universities, managing library scientific data, supporting the publishing activities of universities, managing electronic information resources in university libraries, library activities in the formation of media and information literacy, artificial intelligence and libraries , library marketing, strategies, university library as a socio-cultural center, how to make the library accessible and welcoming to everyone, features of access of people with disabilities to digital education and information resources, leadership orientation and solutions, speaking and writing about disability from an ethical and professional point of view .

This experience will be used in our work. We express our gratitude to our rector Nurlan Sergaliyev for his support.

The 21st century is the century of education and science. We all know that books are a source of knowledge. Therefore, the future of our country is the Library, which turns into a cultural center that guides the youth’s passion for science and education. In order to influence the personal development of students, expand their horizons by attracting young people to read books, as well as identifying and encouraging active readers, the Scientific Library has made it a tradition to hold the annual “Reader of the Year” competition.

Goal: showing interest in reading books and forming an intelligent culture among students, allocating time for reading books in their lifestyle. Forming a category of readers with a rich aesthetic taste, a sharp mind, quick imagination, and comprehensive knowledge.

On this occasion, an award ceremony for the winners of the “Reader of the Year 2023” competition took place. The ceremony was attended by students and teaching staff of each faculty. Member of the M. Utemisov Board, Vice-Rector of Science and International Relations, Professor Kazhimurat Maksotovich Akhmedenov emphasized the uniqueness and significance of the library and invited students to read books and study.The guests of the evening were Tasbolatov Aidos Kanatuly, a graduate of our university, winner of the “Reader of the Year - 2022” nomination, now an actor at the Aktobe Regional Drama Theater named after Takhaui Akhtanov, Saginbaeva Dametken Talgatkyna, a 1st year student. Master's student of the Faculty of Philology, winner of the 2022 nomination “Active Reader - 2022” congratulated the winners and encouraged young people to read.

Sanat Amanbek, a third-year student of the educational program “Philology: Kazakh Language”, who won in the “Active Reader - 2023” nomination of this year’s “Reader of the Year” competition, Tungatar Zhangulim Serikviny, a third-year student of the “Educational program “Biology-Geography” won in the nomination "Active Reader - 2023". Miras Khozhakhmetov, a 3rd year student of the physical education and sports education program, won the “Art Reader - 2023” nomination.

The most important nomination of the evening, “Reader of the Year – 2023,” will be determined at the intra-university award ceremony for the best students, and we will find out together. Stay with us!

For the purpose of spiritual, moral and aesthetic education of students, on November 29, 2023, the “Bibliotour” project, together with the regional universal scientific library named after Zhuban Moldagaliev, held a literary evening on the topic “Shakespeare - the genius of world literature”, dedicated to the work of the great English poet and playwright V. Shakespeare. The event was attended by teaching staff, students of the university and the Higher Pedagogical College named after Zh. Dosmukhamedov. During the literary evening, 1st year student of the specialty “Foreign Language: Two Foreign Languages” Sydykhova Zauresh shared interesting information about the life and work of Shakespeare. A skilled master of comedy, tragedy and history, Shakespeare wrote 37 plays, two poems and 154 sonnets and lyric poems. 1st year students of the specialty “Foreign Language: Two Foreign Languages” Salim Aknur and Abdusheva Madina read excerpts “To be or not to be”, “Sonnet 66”. 2nd year students of the "Director" specialty of the student theater "Murager" Nurlybai Nurgali, Sirazhev Nurkat, Tanbaeva Nargiza, Syrlybekovna Aishagul, Ermek Aida performed an excerpt from the comedy "The Taming of the Shrew". William Shakespeare is one of the most famous playwrights in the world. His plays such as Hamlet, Othello, King Lear, Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet have become world classics. The event had educational and educational significance. Students expanded their knowledge and received additional information about the classical dramaturgy of William Shakespeare, theatrical art and culture of Great Britain.
